The Nuts and Bolts of Beginning and Growing a Private Practice: Practical Considerations and Unconscious Currents

June 29, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm EDT

This event is part of our Psychoanalysis in Action series.

Register here.

This workshop will address the practical considerations of dealing with insurance panels, setting up an office, marketing on the internet and within the community, and establishing fees. It will then shift to more abstract issues of maintaining evenly suspended attention, setting the frame, answering direct personal questions, and instilling a sense of curiosity.

William Behr, LCSW is the former director of the Psychotherapy Training Program at the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, as well as a faculty member and supervisor. He is also a supervisor at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies.

Psychoanalysis in Action is the beginning of our work to be a resource for a wider community of caregivers, therapists and anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of the human experience. We hope to be available as external consultants to individual therapists and community organizations searching for opportunities to consider fresh ways to look at the therapeutic process. Our intent is to show how psychoanalytic principles can inform therapeutic work of all kinds, in both private practice and agency settings.
