ABOUT THIS CONFERENCE
The influence of the therapist’s unconscious participation in clinical work has often been examined. This conference will focus instead on the clinical and ethical considerations when therapists are conscious of their needs and desires and consider how their humanity potentially impacts the therapeutic dyad and the patient.
Four experienced therapists will present papers illustrating treatments during which they thoughtfully explored how to understand the complex interaction between the therapist’s humanity and the therapeutic ideal.
